π Primary Maths Challenge at James Hornsby School! π’β¨
What an incredible day of mathematical brilliance! We were thrilled to welcome 10 primary schools to James Hornsby for this yearβs Primary Maths Challenge β and what a competition it was!
From start to finish, the children showed fantastic focus, teamwork, and problem-solving skills as they tackled a series of increasingly difficult mathematical challenges. Every round pushed their reasoning and application of maths knowledge to new levels, and they rose to the occasion brilliantly! πͺ
The competition was fierce β with just 500 points separating 1st and 10th place! Every team should be immensely proud of their effort, perseverance, and enthusiasm. ππ
π Congratulations to our top three teams:
1st β Noak Bridge Primary School
2nd β Millhouse Primary School
3rd β Janet Duke Primary School
A huge thank you to all the schools who took part, and to our fantastic year 9 maths masters, who made the event such a success. We canβt wait to see you all again next year! π

Every day in school makes a real difference
Students who attend regularly do better. Even a
few days absence can add up and impact achievement.
The DfE say attendance above 95% means students are 30% more likely to meet or exceed expected targets.
Missing school can have unintended consequences when students miss school, they fall behind, they often find it harder to re-engage. The DfE says persistent absence is anyone missing school for 10% or more of their learning. Schools are required to address low attendance and parents should check the schools policy for attendance.
Attendance and parental responsibility
Parents are legally responsible for ensuring their child is in full-time education. Ofsted and the DfE expect schools to take attendance seriously.
Parents should be aware of the number of absences as they can add up and have an impact on learning and opportunities.
