“Earth and sky, woods and fields, lakes and rivers, the mountain and the sea, are excellent schoolmasters, and teach (some of) us more than we can ever learn from books. – John Lubbock | Happy Earth Day from Wander On Words! Part of our mission is to rekindle a love for nature in others through our hand-lettered artwork. We love the Earth and think it’s a very worthy place to celebrate today and every day! We hope you can get outside and enjoy some nature soon! 🌱🌲⛰🌎
“Life will find a way.” – Michael Crichton, Jurassic Park | I am so impressed by and proud of these little green sprouts. Despite our daylily beds being flooded and torn apart (see missing dirt in background), these little guys are still growing strong. This quote immediately came to mind when I saw them, and while it’s a bit dramatic, it echoes my thoughts exactly on this Easter Sunday. Amidst the bad, there will always be some good. Life, inspiration, and happiness will always poke through. Happy Easter, everyone! 🌱🐰🌱
“Between every two pines is a doorway to a new world.” – John Muir | I love being outside. There is so much to explore even in a walk in your own backyard. Vermont is bursting with trees, from sturdy pines, to tasty maples, to gorgeous birches. As the weather gets nicer, go out and discover what new worlds await you out there. 🌲🌲 This quote from John Muir is one of my new favorites! I’ve also included a #letteringvideo of my process. I always am adding on details at the end, though. It’s hard to know when a piece is “done” sometimes. The stippling in the trees adds an extra pop I think! 🌲🌲 What’s your favorite John Muir Quote?
I had a great time @hopnmoose yesterday at the @downtownrutland Spring Sip + Shop! Thank you to everyone who came out, chatted with me, and supported local makers and businesses. I know we all appreciated it. Sometimes I get a little frustrated and wonder if my artwork is making a difference at all, and then at events like this I see the smiles my lettered words bring to peoples faces. It’s all about putting more good into the world, and if I can rouse some happiness, I’ve done my job. Happy Friday folks! 🍺 P.S. @rutlandbeerworks Blueberry Blonde Ale is UNREAL. It’s so tasty – and the ideal beer to usher in warm days and sunny adventures!
“It is only in sorrow bad weather masters us; in joy we face the storm and defy it.” – Amelia Barr | I apologize for the lackluster social media presence these past few days. We’ve been dealing with the aftermath of a huge storm on Monday. There was definitely sadness and lots of stress in the beginning, but we’re getting through it now, and are starting to see a bit more clearly. . . . Pittsfield seemed to bear the brunt of the damage, and our house happened to be where all the water wanted to go. We’re all ok though, which is the most important thing. The road crew has been extremely hard at work putting our corner of the world back together and we are so grateful. . . . I’m loving the sunshine even more now and plan on being very defiant of the rain coming our way again. I will still be vending the Sip & Shop in Rutland tonight, though, so please come visit me with your sunshiny selves! I could use it. 🌞

“Never forget what you are. The rest of the world will not. Wear it like armour and it can never be used to hurt you.” – Tyrion Lannister | Happy return of Game of Thrones tonight!!!! Hope you enjoy it! I will be avoiding social media like the plague because I am waiting to watch it until tomorrow. I’m so excited though for this final season!!! ❄️🔥🐺🐉🦁 #gameofthrones #forthethrone #handlettering
“Kindness is like snow. It beautifies everything it touches.” – Khalil Gilbran | This lettered piece was also a product of my time in our cabin in Quebec! We were lucky enough to get a 2 foot snowstorm while we were there which made for powder turns by day and cozy sits by the fire at night. It also made the breathtaking scenery of the mountains all the more beautiful! This quote is a reminder to be nice. You can’t go wrong by putting a bit more kindness in the world. 🌨
“Surely joy is the condition of life.” – Henry David Thoreau | This little lettered art was inspired by my time spent in the cabin base camp of our Chic Choc adventure. There is a special joy in sharing a small space with friends, cooking up tasty meals together, laughing over cold beers, and creating memories with no WiFi. 🌲 If we would all take little break once and a while from technology and spend some time with nature and friends we might find this quote to ring even more true. Get outside. Unplug. Find your joy.
