• If we were to say 2019 had some surprises for us it would be a massive understatement for the year we had. As many of you know our shop at 921 4th st. in Washougal caught fire due to an accident at a neighbors unit. This happened on a Sunday morning around 1am and we found out about it around 4:30AM.
When we arrived to the scene we saw the remains of what used to be our shop and it seemed very bleak at first sight. Our immediate concerns were the cars we had in our shop. There was a hole in our garage door where the fire fighters cut through so we saw that they had survived but needed out immediately before the roof was to buckle. We had to a hole in our garage door large enough to get the cars out.

While we were in panic mode we had friends and family that came to our rescue staying and helping us shovel debris out of the way and salvage what was left of our belongings. One friend even went so far as to cancel his work day to help us. Within 30 minutes we had moved all the debris so the cars could be pulled out and the cars were safe. Before nightfall everything we were able to save was moved to a safe location. The next kind act from friends came from Rich at Xcessive Manufacturing. He offered to come help us move cars and allowed us to bring over all of our customer cars that were close to finishing over to his shop and finish them with a nice place to work.
My brother John Cooper also set us up a GoFundMe page which was also a huge help not only for the assistance it gave us in time of need but also for the support it showed us we had in our community. Even though a tragedy like this seemed very dark it brightened up quickly once we saw all the kindness everyone had shown us. We are hugely thankful to everyone for who helped us. We have some amazing friends and our family keeps growing every year. We also have some amazing clients that have been very understanding with everything that has happened and we can’t thank them enough.

Through the next few months we were able to continue on with our projects at Xcessive Manufacturing, Mikes Tire and our clients home garages. We are happy to announce we have a new shop just one block away!

We are still continuing to push through our schedule despite the fire setting us back a little. Luckily we have great friends that have been a major support for us. Once again huge thanks to Xcessive Manufacturing for the great dyno experience.

Onto the reason we’re here… the truck! This has been a fun project I’ve always wanted to see someone do this with an off-road truck. Upgrading from the 22R this truck has a lot of extra torque down low and a good solid power band all the way up. We had to switch to these little 31’s so she’d fit on the dyno hopefully soon we will have some footage of this truck in the snow where it belongs!

Luckily this car was not in our shop when the fire came through! This has been a fun project but its great to see it running again and back on the street! Since this is his first boosted car we are starting things out with low boost levels (7 pounds) there is also a restriction of a very small down-pipe that came in on the car (2.5”) but I was very happy with the power we made and once he gets used to the boost we plan on turning things up to around 13PSI with a 3” down pipe and another dyno session. Huge thanks to Xcessive Manufacturing for letting us use their facility.

  • It’s been 2 weeks now since the fire that took down our building but things haven’t stopped. We have been working to get all the cars that were in the building back up to 100% and that is currently our first priority. We are also working toward getting a temporary space together while we plan our next larger move to our final facility. Thanks for bearing with us through all this and we can’t thank those that have supported us enough! We are going to be documenting our journey in much greater detail moving into the new year. #maximumeffort #alwaysmoveforward

  • With a heavy heart we found Sunday morning around 1am a raging fire struck at our building. It started at our neighbors laundromat and spread across the entire building and has been declared a total loss. Our customers came out the least scathed with cosmetic damage from the drywall falling on them. As soon as we had the ok from the fire department we cut the door open and got the cars out before the roof gave way further. We have lot a large portion of our tools. All of our electronics equipment, electronic components we had on inventory, expensive diagnostic equipment, lots of parts & material we had on hand for jobs and much is unknown as there is a large amount that is displaced. We are doing our best to sift through the wreckage to salvage all we can but we are currently displaced without a shop. We will post more info as we continue but we aren’t stopping. Our shop has been our biggest labor of love and this is a true heart break for us but all of the support we have been getting from people has been astounding. We are truly grateful for our customers, friends, family and everyone that have helped us. My brother has been kind enough setup a Gofund Me page to help us there is a direct link in our bio.

Project: Convert from carburetor to electronic fuel injection + more fun stuff
Goodies: AEM Infinity 508, Injector Dynamics, LS Coils, AEM EPM

When Ken’s Camaro came in we were originally going to tune the carb & do some tweaking to improve a few things but after dreaming up some crazy ideas we decided to go forward with a conversion to EFI. There are many kits that make this insanely easy that autotune the car for you. We have installed these kits and they work great. However we wanted some additional safeties and motorsports goodies those kits don’t offer so we opted for the AEM Infinity. This will let us run the car in full sequential for both fuel and ignition. We are also doing something pretty exciting on the intake manifold side of things we’ll be sharing soon in the next post about this project!

  • Goodies: Sonoran Steel 3” Lift Kit / Bilstein Coilovers
Chassis: Toyota 4Runner
Project: 3” Lift Kit install, Lower Control Arms, Outer Tie Rod Ends

This post would probably be better suited for #transformationtuesday but F that noise I’m posting this on a Friday. We installed this lift kit for a local buddy @nwsnowyota the Sonoran Steel lift he chose utilized all high quality components that made the install a breeze… as much as installing a lift can be a breeze lol. After we got the kit on Brandon pulled the trigger on some new wheels & tires which really helped to transform the 4Runner! We love to see people taking care of their Toyota’s and it’s always a privilege working on them.

  • Engine: Toyota 22RE
Goodies: LCE Head, Cams, High Comp Pistons
Chassis: Toyota Hilux
ECU: Link Monsoon
Project: Engine Build, EPM Adaption, Wiring, Tuning

This Hilux came in hurt pretty badly, she had spun a rod bearing which took out the crank & rod. First order of business was getting the bare block over to Brian at M&B Cylinder Heads so he could evaluate if it would be worth saving. With a little clean up and a .20 over bore she would be back in business. While we had the engine apart the customer wanted to improve the performance a little, he already had the LCE head which was a great start but we decided to up the compression a little with some Keith Black pistons and increased the cam duration as well. Once we had the engine back together we decided a standalone ecu would be a better solution to control timing after upping the compression. We originally used the OEM distributor with a single channel igniter to pull trigger signal but we weren’t happy with how noisy the stock dizzy signal was so we opted for an AEM engine position module to increase crank resolution from 4 teeth (Toyota distributer) to 12 teeth (optical) which made a major difference in the signal quality. No we had the option to do coil over plug sequential timing or a wasted spark setup, we opted to use MX5 Mazda Miata coils with a wasted spark setup so we could use the stock 22RE plug wires. With the header on this truck we didn’t want to cook the coils with a COP setup. We worked with @belfanti_machine_works to make us a bitchin adapter that let us easily install the AEM EPM. We will be offering this soon on our store for purchase DM us for pricing.
