  • People with diabetes have accomplished incredible feats, like climbing Mount Everest, finishing Ironman Triathlons, competing in the Olympics, and so much more. There is a stigma around living with diabetes and it is our job to bash the idea of limitations and boundaries.

πŸ‘‰ Diabetes will not hold you back from accomplishing whatever it is you want to do in life.

Take Will Cross as an example of this. At age 9, he was diagnosed with Type 1. In 2006, he became the first person with T1D to climb Everest. He then went on to climb the Seven Summits – the highest peak on each continent. He never let his diabetes overshadow his dreams. Instead, he conquered the highest peaks of the world with confidence (...and a little planning).

Let’s all focus on our own Everests. What is it that drives you? What is your peak? Tell us in the comments below πŸ‘‡β€‰

Keep that thought in the back of your mind at all times and don’t stop. We are all cheering for you.

  • Being present is finding a balanced connection between the mind and the body. Sometimes our irritable thoughts can intrude on our progress. Remember to be present in every moment – the ups and downs.

Here are our top tips to be more mindful in everyday life:

1. Meditate – Anchor yourself in deep breathing and watch your thoughts instead of owning them.

2. Slow down – Don’t let life run you too hard. Positive energy can only flow where there is space.

3. Eat mindfully – This doesn’t just mean eating β€œclean”. It means bridge the connection between foods and how they make you feel

4. Mindful movement– Do the movement you enjoy

5. Spend time in nature – Unplug and connect with the world around you.

6. Prioritize good quality sleep- Understand it’s role in blood sugars the next day

What are you doing to be more mindful this week? Let us know in the comments! πŸ‘‡β€‰β€‰
