• Relax and just savor this time. There is no right or wrong way to snuggle your baby for photos. I'll give suggestions and help with posing in order to get the best angles, but more than anything I just want to give you time to just breathe in these newborn days. Stare at that little man, sway with him, give him kisses, stroke his little face, and just enjoy this, your new version of “us.”

  • LET'S TALK ABOUT LIGHT!!!
•
If you don't know, photographers LOVE light. (Like, we're obsessed with it!) So we really appreciate when you think about lighting throughout your wedding day. Obviously your photographer should be able to shoot in any lighting situation from high noon to dark church basement. But, if you want a helpful lighting tip as you're planning your wedding day, here ya go!
•
It's soo important to have great lighting during the getting ready shots. This helps make your photos pop and not turn out super grainy. (Even if you aren't having me there for getting ready photos, your hair + makeup artist appreciates this too!) If your venue has a bridal suite, be sure to verify if it will have enough light, or consider a nearby Airbnb that has great lighting to get ready at. I guarantee your photos, your makeup, everything will look better if you have more light!

  • I didn’t graduate from college knowing I wanted to pursue photography. I actually thought I wanted to be a graphic designer for a magazine. I even applied for a job in Atlanta after graduation. But nothing ever came of all those applications. At the same time, 10 years ago, I took engagement photos for the best clients who will never pay me (my sister and her husband). To my surprise, other people liked the photos! And then I took more photos, and more photos, and more photos. At 23 my life didn’t look like I thought it should, but this plan God had for me turns out to be a whole lot better. Building the job of my dreams along side my husband (who may be becoming more full-time then I had ever expected), while raising our family. It makes my heart so full! Sometimes I step back and can’t believe this is our reality. So as I sit in my sweats on the floor and play with my three little people, and then sit at my computer at nap time and edit, I am so so grateful God chose to bless me in this way. And a good reminder today that His ways are always better than mine.

  • Let me give you and example of why having the mindset of “community over completion” in important.
•
On my inquiry form I always ask the question,
“How did you stumble upon for my work?” And last year this is how one of my brides answered.. “I think I found you because I have been following @lindsaywilliamsphoto for a while, and you often comment on her posts.”
•
That’s it. No grand post or photo. No giveaway or incentive. She found me because I was genuinely commenting on a another photographers work. If you can appreciate another photographers creativity, celebrate their wins, and form friendships in this industry, it’ll change your whole perspective when you scroll. You’ll stop comparing, you’ll feel inspired, and hey, you may even book a bride because of it. Even though you’re an entrepreneur, you weren’t meant to do this all alone. Find a community of “co-workers” to live life with. And if you don’t have some, slide into my DM’s. I’d love to be your photographer friend!

Here’s permission to tell people know you’re a good photographer. You can tell people you’re the best mom. Or that you’re great at sales, teaching, whatever gift it is that you have. You can be proud of who you are! I know sometimes those lies creep in and tell you otherwise. The lies that tell you that you’re not enough, you’re failing, you should be doing more, you’re an imposter. But girl, you’re good! You’re working hard. You’re showing up. You’re serving, loving, giving. You are good at what you do and you should be proud of that! Tell people that! Speak truth over yourself to combat the lies that are otherwise easy to believe. God created you with a purpose, on purpose, for a purpose, embrace

  • While discussing engagement rings..
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
“Do you like halos?” -Brad
“No.” -Me
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
A few weeks later as we walked by a jewelry store I mentioned I liked the ring on the sign...
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
“But that has a halo!!!!” -Brad
🤦🏼‍♀️ -Me
•
Okay, I guess I didn’t really know anything about rings. So I had no direction when Brad asked me what I liked. But he surprised me and I love my ring!!! And yes, it has a halo.
•
What about your ring? Did you go shopping together? Did he pick it out all himself? Are you hoping for some bling this weekend? Tell me, I Iove hearing your stories!

  • I’m creating healthy habits + setting boundaries because my family + my marriage matter.
•
I work out not because I want to look good (though that is a perk) but because I want to give the best version of myself to my husband and kids. I want to be able to run around, hike, and go on family bike rides for years with them.
•
I only book two weekends of weddings per month because I want to have weekends with my people. We want to camp, we want to play, and we want to spend time with our friends on the weekends too.
•
I don’t edit photos in the evening after my kids are in bed (unless my husband is gone or working on a project) because that’s our time together. It’s when we connect with each other.
•
We’ve been intentional to save money and pay off debt because believe we should live within our means and we want to be able to give generously from what we’ve been given.
•
Boundaries and healthy habits look different for everyone, but I encourage you set them because it helps you create a life that focuses on what matters most. Where you invest your time you’ll invest your life, and for my husband and I that means lots of time with our family and our people.
