• We are thrilled to share with you the locally filmed and directed short film Thanks to Her! Check it out today at @thankstohermovie

A special message from director Sam Orlowski:
"A native Pittsburgh LGBTQ filmmaker, graduate of the University of Pittsburgh has been in the pre-production process with her team for their feature film entitled “Thanks to Her”. This film is based off the short film of the same name. "Thanks to Her" is an inspirational LGBT Film of self-discovery; a short film about a closeted senior soccer player named Millie Blake who receives a month of community service after an altercation with an out and proud classmate named Andy Wellick. As the two begin to spend more time together at the nursing home and bond with two of the residents, Millie begins to become more confident in who she is. The feature will be a further in depth look at Millie and Andy’s journey together, further exploring more of their lives beyond that of the short film. The film was originally written by Sam in a screenwriting class at the University of Pittsburgh, and the short film was filmed the following semester through a grant from the University with the help of a few of her fellow classmates. The film was a way for Sam to come out in her own way at a time were she was struggling, so being able to share the short film, and eventually feature film is a way of sharing herself."

  • Reposted from @cityofasylum Film Screening of 'A Worm in the Heart' presented by @reelqpgh • Monday, December 14 at 7:00 PM • Register now for free at alphabetcity.org or the link in our bio

Join us for the regional premier and unreleased screening of "A Worm in the Heart" hosted by ReelQ. This program includes an exclusive live interview with director Paul Rice and executive producer Liam Jackson Montgomery.

A WORM IN THE HEART is a collection of never before seen stories of tragedy, strength and resilience from the LGBT+ community across Russia, Mongolia and China living under oppressive laws and harsh societal attitudes.

The film is a collection of emotionally driven personal interviews captured on the journey that collectively captures the current state of the LGBTQ community in these three countries.

The film follows the trajectory of the Trans-Siberian railway, as Director Paul Rice and Producer Liam Jackson Montgomery stop off in cities thousands of kilometers apart to meet with activists and non-activists to find out what it means to be queer in Russia.

  • Reposted from @film_pittsburgh A PERFECTLY NORMAL FAMILY is a fitting film to watch tonight as #transawarenessweek comes to a close.

Eleven-year-old Emma has a perfectly normal family until the day she learns that her dad, Thomas, is transgender. As Thomas transitions to Agnete, both father and daughter struggle to maintain their relationship, while accepting that everything they have known is changing. A sensitive debut by director Malou Reymann, based loosely on her own experience as a child, the film includes impactful home movies and wonderful performances from the cast.

This film screening is in collaboration with @reelqpgh.

Watch now until Nov. 22 as part of the Three Rivers Film Festival. Available in PA, WV, and OH only.
