Tulip Bellèpoque probably needs no introduction, the favorite Tulip of many florists. Lots of these beauties out on deliverys today.
The lovely sunshine has brought lots more Tulip varieties out this week. This one is Tulip Mount Tacoma . Popular and pretty white double with a bit of a green streak on the outer petal.
Picotee Ranunculus is delicious with their raspberry ripple markings, and who doesn't want a flower that reminds them of ice cream?.
We have sent out some lovely flower mixes this week. Some have been order by florists from our weekly availability list, and some have been specially selected by us for florists working to a colour scheme. This is Spirea, it's beautiful features are, fine stems that make the delicate white flowers look like they are floating through its small spring green leaves. If you are looking for whispy and elegant white flowers Spirea 'Bridal wreath ' is only around for a few weeks each spring but when it is it's unbeatable.
This Narcissus has the perfect name of 'Cheerfulness' its a cute little multi headed double bloom which packs a punch in terms of scent. Lots of these will be delivered next week to busy florists around Yorkshire in the lead up to Mothers day.
Poppies in sugary sweet shades. The first batch of our Icelandic poppies are flowering now, we will be selling them to florists at an earlier stage than this, when the flowers are just emerging from their buds so you will get a good long vase life from them lasting up to 7 days from cutting. This photo shows the range of colours available currently, later in the season other varieties will be available including colibri in soft pastel shades, and the much saught after Earl Grey!.
Fritillaria meleagris are in season now. Their hanging heads are beatifuly detailed with a checked pattern. If you are looking for a spring flower with a bit of a quirky look these little nodding flowers are for you. They last extremely well in a vase and look beautiful delicately placed for interest in bouquet work.
Wrapping Bridal crown Narcissus ready for deliverys is such a pleasure, the scent from these stems is incredible. They are also multi headed, and double flowering. If you can cope with them being slightly shorter than other varieties they are great for bouquets and low arrangements. Flowering now_ March
We have a few different types of blossom out at the moment this is one of them. A sure sign that spring is appearing. We will be supplying some lovely blossoms during the coming weeks in pinks and whites.
Anemone Albino in close up. Elegantly beautiful and being delivered to florists this week. These and other Anemones will be flowering for the next 4/6 weeks.
Hellebour are the in season flower of the moment featuring in our prebooked orders going out this week. The range and quantity of flowers we have will increase weekly and soon we will be sending an availability list out to all of our customers every Friday for weekly deliverys in and around Yorkshire.
Achillea. . Looking at a photo of this brilliant meadow style flower from last summer, seems a good starting point for a few more considering the style colour prediction of the year 'living Coral'. It might have no affect or maybe all your customers are asking for it. So just incase you were wondering here is a small selection of the flowers we have at various points of the season in the @pantone Colour of the year 2019. Scabiosa Ping Pong . Proving somtimes you dont need petals to be a good looking stem. Here are 2 examples of our stems with different textures, that are not your typical flower but a couple from our range of seed pods and grasses. Great fresh or for creating dried instillations we are sowing these now and will have fresh stems available from summer. Available fresh July- October Dried from Aug 2019
Phlox . It's all very exciting at the moment the sowing and growing lists for the flowers we will supply this year are now being put to action. Making sure we are growing the flowers loved by florists. This is Phlox Creme brulee which is near the top of the list and will be joined this year by more varieties. Available June- September
Ammi . This lacy white umberfilller may not be the star of the show but, it is so versatile, and this could surprise you. Ammi is actually our most requested flower. We supply 2 different varietys pictured first here is Visnaga and the 2nd shows Majus. Available June- September
Peonies The mild weather of late has woken the ground early, and there is signs of growth across our fields and the leafy arms of Peonies are breaking though the soil. They have a very sort season for us but when their flowers do appear for their few weeks of stardom at the end of May nothing beats them. Available around end of May begining June.
Cornflowers . We supply masses of these little gems. This is a blue mix but we , have many different colours. We have a selection of flowers we grow in batches for succession across our farms this is one of them . So come the summer we can cut and supply them weekly. Available June- September
Antirrhinum . Our first batches of these ever popular flower spikes are already growing away they will be flowering in June. We are currently sowing more for continuation. Even though we grow some crops in tunnels, we grow without any additional heat meaning we can only supply Antirrhinum during summer. But that means good strong flowers and no sappy floppy stems to deal with. Also we have some fab varietys for you 😊. Avalible June-September
Delphinium . So you all seem to like foxgloves, Re our last post, we wonder if Delphiniums will prove as popular ?. The Large, stately giants of the floral world, our Delpiniums are big and proud. Admittadly not ideal for average sized bouquetes but the perfect statement for creating large arrangements. Available June
Foxgloves. . Towards the end of May the taller flower spikes begin to strut there stuff on the flower scene. This is a bed of apricot foxgloves begining to flower on 18th of May last year. Great tall stems ideal for the wow factor in those large Urn displays. Available May/June. Height 1mtr+
Sweet Peas Producing the most beautiful scent evoking memories of summers in the garden. Sweet peas are the favorite British flower for many prople. Our growers are currently nuturing seedlings to produce thousands of these fabulous quality stems. Available from mid May
Nigella . It won't flower until June but with a common name of Love-in-a-mist it seems a good oppotunity to flash a photo for Valentines Day. One of the earliest summer annuals to come into flower, also one of our best sellers. White, various shades of blue, and a very subtle pink will all be available. June-August
Orlaya . Carrying on a theme from our last post, white flowers available late spring/early summer. This gorgeous flower is Orlaya it is an umberfilller, Comonly known as laceflower, think if it as Ammi with added pizzazz!. All the outer umbels open to white petals. If you've not used orylaya before give it a go we think you'll love it. If you have come across it before then youĺl know exactly what we mean 😃. Available May/June
Viburnm Opulus . Around at the same time as blossom in late spring early summer we pick and supply lots of stems from flowering shrubs. This is one example commonly known as Guelder rose. If it's early summer and you want a large beautiful white/green flower to wow this is the one for you.
Continuing our advanced walk through the flower season. . Today we look at a big star from many spring floral instillations. It's a flower that generally unites everyone with a smile at its appearance... blossom. We supply branches of blossom in mtr+ lengths from various fruit trees. Available April- June
Our Stocks (infact all of the flowers we supply) are grown cool so they have long and strong stems. Stocks are the classic cut flower and nothing beats that Clove like scent of freshly picked seasonal Stocks. .. Available during April-June Stems 40cm+
COLOUR POP . We do get asked for white and pastel flowers more than any other but we happily supply a rainbow of colours. This year we will have Ranunculus in basicly every colour apart from blue and that's only because we haven't found one yet! Ranunculus will be available April to May in the following colours, white, picotee edged, pastel shades, brown, violet, yellow, hot pink & these orange stunners.
Currently our Ranunculus plants are all tucked up and just waiting for a while until the weather is a little warmer when they will produce beautiful flowers like this. So instead of thinking about how cold it currently is outside (-5 with a dusting of snow here in Yorkshire today) let's enjoy this photo from last April.
To protect our flowers from feild to florist, all of our stems will be delivered wrapped in brown recycled paper. That means stunning flowers and florists have no nasty plastic to get rid of👍. . Tulip Charming Lady will be available to charm you with her faded bronze beauty at the end of April.
