yesterday, as i was driving to dinner with a friend— i was talking about third story and how i’ve seen such a major shift within my business over the last couple months. spring and summer were not easy for me. if i’m being honest, i felt really depleted— like, i had given as much as i could and my proverbial tank was almost empty and my gas light had just gone on. i took an unexpected sabbatical — quit all the to-do list items that were not essential, took off to the caribbean for a couple weeks, and focused on seeking joy. while i love my work, i felt like between the podcast, the weekly emails, my personal projects, and client work— everything i was doing, felt like a chore. i knew that i needed a shift. i needed to bring joy back into the equation. i know, it’s such a lofty thing to say, but, here’s what i did do— ❤️i gave myself permission to do not do everything. i told myself that the world would still spin, if i didn’t post everyday or send out weekly emails or podcast. . 🍷i spoke only positive words— eliminating anything that could be translated as negative such as “silly”, “dumb”, “annoying”. because, it’s so easy — to causally say “oh, i just need to send off this silly file.” or “i’m so annoyed by XYZ”, or “this dumb file won’t save properly!” and, while it may feel so harmless- it’s negative. and, it’s not producing any positivity in our lives or work or businesses. . 🌹i said affirmations pertaining to joy over myself everyday. i woke up and said “i’m full of joy. i create out of an overflow of joy. i choose to be joyful no matter what situation comes my way.” while these changes may seem so minuscule— i am confident that they’ve had a direct impact on me, my mental health, and my business. because, as humans— we were created to experience and live a life full of joy. and, when choose to joy—everything in our lives flourish. all that to say, my friend — if you feel like you’re reaching the end of yourself + are not longer enjoying your life/work— recenter yourself. center yourself on joy. if you can find your way back to joy— you’ll find that everything will flourish.
been ultra inspired by vintage campaigns from vogue, chanel, and gucci lately. but, also, by tigers. don’t ask why. but, i really think a pet tiger would suit me in life. maybe, it’s the enneagram 8 in me?⠀ ⠀ as a side note, i have been thinking about how beautiful it is that we have the ABILITY TO CREATE. each of us. no one is the exception. inside of us the power to bring something into reality that never existed before.⠀ ⠀ following that line of thinking — if we have the ability to create, then we also have the ability to CREATE SOLUTIONS to problems and overcome any challenge we face.⠀ ⠀ so, with that said, whatever challenges you are facing as you work, create, dream, and build your business — remember that YOU CAN OVERCOME ANYTHING that comes your way.⠀ ⠀ when you come up against problems and challenge remind yourself of who you are: ⠀ you are fierce. ⠀ you are full of good ideas.⠀ and, you were destined for greatness.⠀ ⠀ alright, let’s go dominate this week— shall we? ⠀ ⠀ but, wait, btw— before we all get off this app and get back to work— if you could have any exotic pet, what would it be? tell me in the comments! #thirdstoryapartment
there are so many things that i love about being a designer — 1) i love being able to be apart of bringing people’s wild dreams to life! and 2) i love being a part of the work in progress —⠀ ⠀ seeing a vision, bringing it to life, tweaking it, revising it, fine tuning it until it’s exactly what it needs to be in order to make impact. ⠀ ⠀ the design process is a constant reminder that our lives are constantly a work in progress, too. it’s a reminder that we can make changes and adjustments when needed or start clean — that we’re not confined to what was. we’re allowed to evolve.⠀ ⠀ this floral submark didn’t make the final cut — but, it served a purpose and sparked on new ideas. and, at the end of the day, was part of the beautiful process of creating something special for my client, fortier therapy.⠀ ⠀ just goes to show, everything serves a purpose in life... even if it’s a stepping stone to the next thing.⠀ ⠀ so, wherever you find yourself today, friend— enjoy being a work in progress. it’s something beautiful.⠀ ⠀ #thirdstoryapartment
