It’s feeling like spring and we have our first seasonal food of the year happening here in Ontario - maple syrup...yay! 🍁 You know how much I love all things seasonal so this time of year, after a long dull winter, makes me super excited. After buying a lot of super mediocre granolas in the last couple of months and having one great one made by our friends I was inspired to whip up a homemade batch last week using maple syrup and lots of other goodies. It only takes 5 minutes to make and 30 minutes to bake and it’s darn delicious 😋 Recipe link in profile!
*GIVEAWAY* Do you think about ways that you can live more sustainably in your daily life? For me, the main choices I make are to buy intentional clothing (less of it and often second hand) and choosing local produce whenever possible (even if that means a whole lot of stored apples and carrots at this time of year!). Making a difference doesn’t have to be a grand gesture or lifestyle shift - simple habits, over time, have a valuable impact. Looking forward to chatting about simple ways to live more sustainably at the Green Living Show this weekend where I’ll be talking on my (first ever!!) panel. #GLS19 . The Green Living Show (@greenlivingpage on Insta) is this weekend, March 22-24, at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. There are hundreds of product exhibitors, innovation talks and of course, so much delicious food for you to try. I am giving away FIVE individual sets of tickets for what is sure to be an enlightening show. To enter: 1. Follow me and @greenlivingpage 2. Tag a friend below…that’s it! . I’d love to hear what choices you have made in your daily life to live more sustainably…not necessary to enter the contest, just looking to share ideas! #greenlivingshow #ad . This contest is in no way associated with Instagram. Winners will be selected at random this Thursday March 21 in the am and notified by DM. Tickets will be sent electronically. Thank you for entering!
I’ve recently realized that my happiness comes largely through my eyes. It sounds funny, and maybe like a much too simple recipe for happiness (I guess it’s not an independent factor...more of a tipping point...whatever, this isn’t a scientific study here 😂), but one glance at a beautiful building, an amazing piece of clothing, or a blooming garden can seriously leave me excited for the whole day. This was a really happy day for me because this whole hill and every building on it was just so dang beautiful. What simple thing can make your day?
On my walk this morning I spotted daffodil buds coming out of the ground and I instantly got very excited. Having grown up on a property covered with daffodils that’s always the first sign of spring for me. What’s the first sign of spring for you? It’s March which means it’s almost time for my annual Instagram flower naming bonanza. Due to popular demand I’ve decided to make it an annual thing but due to how mentally draining it is I can’t do it more than that 😂 (I put way way too much thought into it but I’ve had someone tattoo their flower on them self so it’s no small responsibility I carry here 😂). If you’re confused I’ll put my past flower naming posts in my stories 😉 Now where are my daisies at?!
With all of the beautiful and creative ways to decorate a long table, repetition of a classic centrepiece is still high on my list of favourites. We are one month away before our for real real wedding season begins - we have just a handful of Saturday dates available in 2019 so if you’re getting married this year do not hesitate to reach out! .
