This is true. I have struggled with the Trump supporters in my life. I don’t have a lot of them. I’m Canadian and almost all of my friends and family are Canadians, but I travel to the states often and have made many friends over insta in the states. I know they are not overtly racist people but some of them still support Trump. This speaks to me. In a racist society, being non-racist isn’t enough. Supporting someone who is so overtly racist is a problem. Feel free to unfollow me if you are a Trump supporter.

Sometimes the internet gives you shit. Sometimes though, it gives you an incredible friend that lives far away. And she loves baby yoda as much as you do so she makes you baby yoda stuff for your crafting! This package is so amazing!! I feel so spoiled!! Thank you a thousand times Andrea!!! My kiddo is already trying to steal the crossstitch pouch!! @threadofnight #bestinternetfriends

So kiddo and I beat Mario U this week. We were playing on the easiest setting so it’s not that impressive, but for us a fun accomplishment! I took this picture and went to post it on Instagram and I froze. After this past week of facing up to the reality of racism in my community and the privileged life I lead, it feels so trivial to post that we beat Mario. Or that I almost finished knitting the second sleeve on my cardigan. I have always used Instagram as an album to hold my memories. A chronology of my life and my growth through my creative outlets. Now that I have seen the powerful impact Instagram posts can have, it seems like a waste of internet space to share this little win. How do we move forward in this space? Is it disrespectful to share such trivial things while people are literally dying because of the colour of their skin!? I don’t know how to move forward in a respectful manner. If anyone has any ideas I’m all ears!! I don’t want to burden people of colour with this either. I have been silent except to post in support of the black lives matter movement and against racism in the past week. I will continue to do that in this space, however I don’t know how to balance my life into the folds. Open to suggestions! ❤️

Yeah, all lives matter. But right now we are focused on black lives because they need it. Don’t be a dick. #blacklivesmatter
