Something I have had an opportunity to learn about breech birth in particular is that breech babies are often born a bit stunned. As such it's common for them to need a little encouragement to start crying and figure out that they need to breathe. When providers can inform parents of things like this it can help alleviate some of the stress & uncertainty of watching the birth team "bag" their baby. This sweet pea was no exception. While the images may look a bit frightening, this stunned phase was short lived and she was filling the air with a lusty cry & pinking up in no time.
She believed she could. So she did. This is birth. This is real. This is fighting for what you want. This is trusting your body. This is supported choice. This is informed choice. This is a VBAC. This is a rainbow baby. This is a vaginal breech birth. This is autonomy. This is beautiful. This client fought for a long time to find the support she wanted, needed, and deserved to have the birth that she wanted. In other news: I am likely going to be combining my birth account with this one because I just don't have the time to manage both. It's an honor to have work included in this tribute to mothers. Almost as much of an honor as it is to be there for the mothers that trust me to document these life changing moments. Happy Mother's day! #Repost @jennifermasonphotography ・・・ In the midst of uncertainty, isolation, and change…parents carried, grew and birthed babies. In an unprecedented season - we watched the strength and beauty of mothers all around the world. Hope sprung forth in delivery rooms, operating rooms, birth centers, and home births as we all held onto the promise of tomorrow. This Mother’s Day weekend we want to celebrate all the people who birthed this year…and the support that surrounded them. We also want to acknowledge the families that lost babies this year and longed for babies that didn’t come. We believe that seeing and sharing these moments allows us to reflect more deeply on what it means to be human - to care for ourselves and for our community, to persevere during hard times and to always celebrate the good. Midwives provide a safe option of care for low risk pregnancies and are valuable beyond measure! As a birth worker I am always excited to work with our local midwives and as a mom I chose midwifery care for 3 of my 4 babies and I would do it all again! To these amazing champions for birthing people and babies, these guardians of choice, autonomy, and physiological birth, Happy International Day of the Midwife! #internationaldayofthemidwife2021 #birthphotography #mamarazziphotographytx #birthphotographer

I love playing with the light a bit. It had clouded over but at the right moment the sun came out to play. 🥰
