Students were introduced to the science of natural pigements through an activity of dying eggs using plant-based pigments. These included dyes made from red onion skins, beets, turmeric, red cabbage, and hibiscus flowers. Students tested out how color took to brown vs white eggs and learned that to create eggs with a rich color, the eggs need to soak for a long period of time! 💚💛 #grier #grierknowsgirls #griergirls #handsonlearning #grierSTEM

No Fooling around! Our middle school released 62 rainbow trout fingerlings on April 1, 2026 into Vanscoyoc Run as it runs through Camp Anderson in Tyrone. This partial release was necessary in order to maintain water quality in the classroom tank. 💚💛

Trout in the Classroom is made possible through a unique partnership between the Pennsylvania Council of Trout Unlimited (PATU) and the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission (PFBC), Pennsylvania Trout In the Classroom (PA TIC) is an interdisciplinary environmental education program in which students learn about current and past impacts, management, and protection and enhancement opportunities of Pennsylvania’s coldwater resources, while raising trout in the classroom.

Our middle school students in grades 5-8 will release the other half of our fish on Earth Day and enjoy a full day of wilderness adventures. We plan to fly fish with Little Juniata River Association members, build bluebird boxes and, learn about game-life common to Pennsylvania with a Pennsylvania Game Warden, and photograph flora and fauna with middle school science teacher, Christine Fernandes.

Grier School Equestrian team had a great show at the World Equestrian Center in Ohio! 💚🐴💛

Congratulations to the following riders at WEC in Ohio:

Alex B. and Snowcloud, owned by Grier School, were Champion in 3’3Junior Hunters and 3rd in the USHJA National Derby

Ariana F. was Reserve Champion with Blue Tide, owned by Grier School, in the Regular Large Ponies. The pair also won the Pony Hunter Classic!

Langston E. & Play the Blues, owned by the Grier School, were the class winners in the Low Child Hunters

Emerson P. and McHenry, owned by the Grier School, were Champion in the Low Children’s Hunters and finished 2nd in the Low Child/Adult Classic.

Hazel P. and Jimena F.’s, Fidelina Z, were Reserve Champion in the Children’s Equitation.

Anleigh Alhert 25’ - finished 2nd and 3rd in the Future Prix aboard Mademoiselle A and Crack D’la Rousserie, both owned by the Grier School.

Izzy M. and Cartoon Tame, owned by Grier School, were Champion in the 1.10 Junior Jumpers.

Natalie T. and her own, Exclusive, rode to top ribbons in the 3’3 JR Hunters. Natalie aboard Grier School’s, Mademoiselle, were class winners in the 1.00 Open Jumpers.

Daria B. aboard her own, Ice, finished 2nd in HJAM Child/Adult Medal.

Olivia R. riding her own, Qopaline, finished 10th in the National Hunter Derby.

Reina K. riding Quiet Time, owned by Grier School, had great rounds in the Limit Hunters and WEC medal.

Emily G. and Grier School’s, Baron De Ley, won great ribbons in the 3’3 Junior Hunters including finishing 2nd in the Handy!

Aurelia A. and Wentworth, owned by the Grier School, had great ribbons including a 1st place finish in the Limit Hunters.
