Meet our Grier Summer Director, Natalie Ondrey!
Natalie Ondrey began working at Grier as an Instructor in the English Department in 2021. She grew up attending 4-H Camp, performing at music and theater camps, and camping with her family. She started at Grier Summer in 2023, where she led music, theater, and writing workshops. Her experiences as a theatrical director, musician, artist, leader, and outdoor educator all contribute to her love of camp.

This year, nine Grier students participated in the annual Bio-Olympiad exam. This is a national exam to test students’ overall knowledge about the many fields of biology. Both Petra Z. and Josephine F. received certificates of merit by obtaining test scores in the top 30% of students nationally. Zara D. received an honorable mention by obtaining a test score in the top 20% nationally. Way to go girls!

Happy Earth Day! 🌳 🌿

Taking a hands-on approach, our girls stepped outside and immersed themselves in nature!

Students went to Fort Roberdeau and were guided by Jody Wallace. The overarching goal was to remove invasive plants and replace them with native shrubs and trees that add value to the ecosystem! A whopping 470 trees were planted!

7th and 8th enjoyed the day by releasing 122 Rainbow Trout, that they raised in their Integrated Science class, in a stream at Camp Anderson. This stream feeds into the Little Juniata, which runs at the base of Grier School. The Little Juniata River Association taught the girls how to fly-fish, tie flies, and identify macro-invertebrates to determine stream quality.

The Grier School Equestrian Program offers students and campers the chance to pursue their passion for riding.

With world class horses, outstanding facilities, and highly professional instructors, Grier’s Equestrian Program has a well-deserved reputation as the top secondary school program in the United States. Grier Girls travel to USEF premier and Nationally rated competitions, exhibiting a strong record of National Championships. The program introduces beginners to the basics while also giving experienced riders advanced training, and focuses on three styles of riding: Hunter/ Jumper, Western, and Dressage.
