The whole reason the Reckless Saints couldn't get to the Americana Fest in time to play our Friday set? This right here.

I was just looking at some of my past purchases, including some bone conduction headphones, and was shocked to realize I must be using them all wrong.

What a fun Saturday it was, after the Friday from Hell! Anybody happen to have any photos of Reckless Saints' set at the Florida Americana Music Festival?

Junior and I have been having a Freaky Face contest all afternoon. He's very good, but I always win. If it starts to look like he's got me, I just spray him in the face with nitrocellulose lacquer.

Warming up the fingas in preparation for Charlie McCoy's arrival so we can work out an idea of what we'll be doing at our co-bill (Charlie McCoy with Reckless Saints' Roy Schneider and Kim Mayfield, in-the-round) at the Alliance for the Arts in Fort Myers this Sunday, the 17th.
It'll be St. Patrick's Day, so of course we'll have to acknowledge that in song, but it's not specifically a St. Pat's celebration so we'll be performing a variety of songs, original and otherwise.
You'll notice my harmonicas remain sheathed...

Relentless rain and mud on the morning of the GA minifest... But all sources tell us we'll be in the clear by 5, singin' by 6! Glad there is a roof over the pavilion.

'59-esque Les Paul Jr is coming along. Got the inlaid ebony head plate retro-fitted and flush all around, gonna save the tuner and truss rod holes for when I have more time and am not tempted to hurry, undoubtedly screwing something up in the process.
Can't spend all my home time on this, 'cause in other news, I'm also mixing/editong Bill Burkert's second album from Shiny Gnu Records! Bill's a wonderful songwriter and I love working on his stuff. Maybe he'll allow me to post something when it's all wrapped up.

Headstock adornment arrived today... For the '59-style Les Paul Jr I am building with parts made by my friend Robert Mizek.
Heeehee!

Reckless Saints had some FUN last night playing under the big Banyan tree at the Mercato in Naples, FL... First as a duo, then joined by our amazing sometimes-bassplayer, Sue Hulcher, who snapped this pic as she was setting up to join us. Beautiful evening and we had listeners, dancers and tippers; overall a very enjoyable 2 hours.

Since I can't be "that person" on here, with music and art being the center of the universe... I may have to start an Instagram page just for Remy and Banjo. #CrazyAssChihuahuas

I have been trying to come up with the perfect caption for this all afternoon. Banjo was at the groomer today and struck this pose for Kim.

Kim joined me at my usually-solo Thursday afternoon gig at the Lighthouse yesterday. Had a friend in from out-of-town who was really hoping to see us as a duo, so we made it happen. Thanks Papaw Richard Day, and Dhruva' and son Sunny who also came out! A fun afternoon.

Just a recap on Saturday's Lucinda Williams show in Coral Springs... Post-stroke she did a lot more talking/storytelling, which was fantastic, because so many artists once they reach a certain level of fame don't seem to do a lot of that (with exceptions of course). Then her killer band 'Buick 6,' which was with her when we saw her before her stroke, would break into the song she was just talking about and the screen behind her would roll video involving real-life characters from it.
She's got a great story about the time her dad had a beer with Hank Williams.

The next project: '58 Les Paul Jr double-cut body and neck from luthier extraordinaire Robert Mizek. Thinking of labeling the headstock "RobRoy" when done.
