It’s Stockist Sunday time, people! We’re going to Hull, UK to see @plantandpainthull. I am particularly in love with this Stockist, because Lara (shop owner and all around ray of sunshine) just never stops challenging herself; she’s constantly improving her beautiful shop, mastering fresh skills to teach in workshops and getting involved with new projects in her community. Lara has created a real one-stop home-improvement creative-fulfilment self-care destination shop in the hub of @fruitmarkethull. She’s surrounded by like-minded independent businesses -from eateries to galleries, just a hop, skip and a jump from Hull’s historic marina. Lara doles out expert advice and endless inspiration to devoted Chalk Paint® fans and curious passersby alike. What a brilliant shop to stumble across! How could anybody resist sticking their nose in for a look around once that beautiful window mural catches their eye. She’s inspired so many people across East Yorkshire to pick up a paintbrush and bring colour into their home and says she has “never looked back since painting my first frame six years ago”. I for one am very glad to hear it. Photos by @roots.and.tales #ChalkPaint #AnnieSloan #Hull #Yorkshire #Plantstagram
From yesterday’s rustic patina, textured detail and rich Chalk Paint® in Oxford Navy, to a smooth and fresh coat of Antoinette on this contemporary chest of drawers. Tami @paintmetwice went super simple; one colour, Clear Chalk Paint® Wax, no messing around - and the end result is a lovely, charming piece of furniture. Sometimes Chalk Paint® makes you work (see yesterday’s post); but mostly Chalk Paint® does the work for you. (quick – someone write that down I think I just invented our new slogan)
I adore this rustic Batik-inspired piece from @thehousewarmings. Blotches of Chalk Paint® in Oxford Navy and Florence have been layered under Provence on the frame, whilst the doors are Oxford Navy beneath an Old White stencil. Layers of Chalk Paint®, multiple judicious sanding stints, and rather a lot of talent have gone into this piece and it really shows. The end result is completely unique – just like the African mud cloths which inspired the project. Google those if you’re interested in rustic textures, they’re truly beautiful. Oxford Navy was in part inspired by the ancient organic indigo dyes we see in Indian block printing so it’s wonderful to see it used in a similar context! Particularly with only a few days to go until my trip to Mumbai (workshop links in bio!), this piece makes me so extra excited for all the inspiration I’m going to find on my adventure.
The countdown is on! Just **one hour to go** until my Facebook Live which is all about creating a Malachite Effect – set to be a huge trend in 2020. Someone else who knows all about trends, colour and upcycling is @forgottengems_chic . She used a custom Chalk Paint® mix of Scandinavian pink, Old White and Barcelona Orange to create this muted coral shade. I love how this dresser is warm enough to bring some sunshine and cheer to a room, but in a laidback way. Very effectively done. And the gorgeous florals don’t hurt either.
If your New Year’s Resolution was to stop buying new; to finish a DIY project; to prioritise “me” time; to look at your phone less; to reconnect with your creative side; to make your home a more beautiful place to be; then may I recommend a Project Pot of Chalk Paint® in Athenian Black to tick all those boxes! A true black will never go out of style, it’ll complement and heighten every other colour, and it makes a style statement in the same way as a bright red, yellow or green – but is much less intimidating than I know those bright colours can be. Doesn’t this table look swish? And upcycling it was a much more enriching, pleasant way to spend forty minutes than mindlessly shopping for new. If you’re interested in starting 2020 with some home (and self!) improvement don’t forget to join me for my Facebook Live at 5pm GMT tomorrow! Ask me any questions and learn how to create a stunning malachite effect using just Chalk Paint®.
What a happy, cheerful mirror! I feel like I couldn’t help but smile at my reflection if this was the frame for it! @ShedEleven used Chalk Paint® in Scandinavian Pink, English Yellow, Barcelona Orange, Antibes Green and Florence to emphasize the gorgeous carved details and give a bold, bright and beautiful rustic Indian look. Dark Wax gives depth, definition and pulls the whole thing together wonderfully. Table in Svenska Blue. I can't wait to see more fun and fiesty pieces like this one when I'm in India from next week (link in bio for details if you fancy joining me!) #AnnieSloan #ChalkPaint #Mumbai
If this piece doesn’t make you excited to try a furniture makeover in 2020 then I don’t know what will! @KachaFurniture mixed Chalk Paint® in Aubusson Blue with Chicago Grey and used the resultant baby blue to paint the wood and glass of this dresser; transforming it completely in the process. A real Cinderella-esque shift (in fact, isn’t this more or less the same beautiful blue as Cinders’ iconic dress? I don’t know if this dresser can go to the ball, but it can certainly come to my house!) #AnnieSloan #ChalkPaint #AubussonBlue #ChicagoGrey
I’m making my first ever trip to India! I am madly, wildly excited. As I’m sure you can imagine. On January 14th I’ll be running a demonstration, Q&A session, and beyond in Mumbai. Please click the link in my bio for more information and to book tickets – and do so ASAP as places are limited! I’d also love my wonderful Chalk Paint® community hive-mind to tag any creatives, independent businesses, and interiors mavens based in and around Mumbai so I can fully explore the talent in this incredible city while I’m visiting. Let's network! #Mumbai #MumbaiFashion #MumbaiFood #Mumbai_ig #MumbaiBlogger #Mumbai_igers #MumbaiInteriors
If you’re finding your energy levels zapped post-Christmas, let me, @louisagraceinteriors and Chalk Paint® in English Yellow perk you right up with this enlivening, invigorating burst of citrus splendor! Zesty, peppy and about ten times more lively than I’m feeling right now...like this picture and let this spirited shade give you some much-needed extra OOMPH. The colour yellow is known to increase feelings of enthusiasm, optimism and energy - let's just really really hope this quick dose works on all of us today! Happy first Saturday of 2020! ⚡️⚡️💛
@dingleydellcreative used Amsterdam Green here, executed the floral scene using Scandinavian Pink and then created a sort of Trompe-l'œil picture frame using Copper Gilding Lead. Proving ONCE AND FOR ALL that metallics are for life, not just for Christmas. #ChalkPaint
@thereclaimedheirloom has aged this romantic dressing table to perfection. Chalk Paint® in Louis Blue, French Linen and Paris Grey provide a base for a raft of techniques including decoupage, crackle varnish, and the application of coloured Waxes. So well executed – and if you visit her page you can find a tutorial!
Here’s a rather inspiring piece. From (very) drab to (incredibly, implausibly, iressistibly) fab. This stunning crane design is by @justrestore in Dubai. What a transformation to herald the New Year! I bet this cabinet can’t believe its good fortune falling into her talented hands!
We made it! Cheers to a brand new year, one filled with creative fulfillment, making your home your own, and some rather exciting new Chalk Paint® releases – it is our 30th Anniversary, after all! How time flies! Photo by the fabulous @Haylei_Smith 😘
How magical is this party set-up? Chalk Paint® in Oxford Navy on the dresser, Napoleonic Blue on the walls, and Bright Gold Gilding Wax on the stars and picture frame. A beautiful room in which to celebrate New Years Eve, don’t you think? Even if you just watch the fireworks on the TV. What are your plans for tomorrow night? If it isn’t obvious from my immediate observation that this is a gorgeous room even to watch TV from, let me make it clear that no I will not be braving the New Year’s Eve crowds, or socializing at a lavish cocktail party, or any other glamorous alternative - but instead will be smugly wrapped up at home. Can’t WAIT.
