#WearItPink. It’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month, so I wanted to take a break from our usual programming for a quick reminder about how to stay healthy and spot changes in your body as soon as possible. Lay down your brushes – and grab your boobs! Here’s some words from the NHS on how to conduct an at home check up and what to look out for: ✨There's no right or wrong way to check your breasts. But it is important to know how your breasts usually look and feel. That way, you can spot any changes quickly and report them to your GP. Be breast aware Every woman's breasts are different in terms of size, shape and consistency. It's also possible for one breast to be larger than the other. Get used to how your breasts feel at different times of the month. This can change during your menstrual cycle. For example, some women have tender and lumpy breasts, especially near the armpit, around the time of their period. After the menopause, normal breasts feel softer, less firm and not as lumpy. The NHS Breast Screening Programme has produced a 5-point plan for being breast aware: • know what's normal for you • look at your breasts and feel them • know what changes to look for • report any changes without delay • attend routine screening if you're 50 or over • Look at your breasts and feel each breast and armpit, and up to your collarbone. You may find it easiest to do this in the shower or bath, by running a soapy hand over each breast and up under each armpit. You can also look at your breasts in the mirror. Look with your arms by your side and also with them raised. See your GP if you notice any of the following changes: • a change in the size, outline or shape of your breast • a change in the look or feel of your skin, such as puckering or dimpling • a new lump, thickening or bumpy area in one breast or armpit that is different from the same area on the other side • nipple discharge that's not milky • bleeding from your nipple • a moist, red area on your nipple that doesn't heal easily • any change in nipple position, such as your nipple being pulled in or pointing differently • a rash on or around your nipple✨ @breast_cancer_care #breastcancerawareness

Jenny is our Stockist at @haygenshop in vibrant Islington, North London. Alongside her team (including Niamh and Carmela. HI Niamh and Carmela!) she hosts regular Chalk Paint® workshops from this hub of fabulous lifestyle inspiration right in the heart of this lively pocket of London. Islington is an historic shopping and entertainment destination with many wonderful restaurants and music venues close by and I’m delighted to have a Stockist flying the Chalk Paint® flag there. @haygenshop have been working with Chalk Paint® for the last 7 years and teaching my workshops for 4.5 of these years. They say “years of painting and transforming furniture items - and anything else we can get our hands on - has been a pure joy and we have found an area we really love in teaching and demonstrating the products and techniques” There’s still some places on their Annie Sloan Techniques workshop next Sunday, so why not treat yourself? #AnnieSloan #StockistSunday #ChalkPaint #Islington

@pigeon_and_pip perfectly demonstrating how Athenian Black can work as a cosy, folksy colour. This piece reminds me of an aga or an old iron fireplace, centres of the home which families would traditionally gather around of an evening in the cooler months. 🥰🔥🔥🔥 (nb: please do not set fire to your painted furniture)
This beautiful chest by @thehousewarmings has been painted with Chalk Paint® in Athenian Black. The details have been picked out with a custom mix of Svenska Blue and Amsterdam Green. Carina gave a light sanding along the bottom of the drawers, sealed the piece with Clear Chalk Paint® Wax – and applied a wash of Graphite and French Linen to the top. The end result is, I think, stunning. I love the bare wood and the organic accessories with the black.
Daniel of @OtherMansTreassure is one of my favourites in the furniture painting community. He used Chalk Paint® in Athenian Black on the frame of this chair then painted the seat to look like leather by layering French Linen under multiple thin coats of a Barcelona Orange, Arles and Honfleur mix. The stamp has been painted in Graphite, and lashings of Dark Chalk Paint® Wax give that aged leather look. Clear Chalk Paint® Wax all over to protect. He’s even included some of my fabric in this little mise en scène!
