  • This week for #StockistSunday I spoke to @chaptertwointeriors on the Sunshine Coast in Australia – and I wish I’d saved this for Valentine’s Day because it’s a love story! I’ll let Hayley, one half of Stockist Team Hayley and Darren tell you her Stockist story in her own words… ”Formerly a Registered Nurse, I started blogging about my Chalk Paint® journey, sharing my work and painting furniture for commissions along the way. This started quite a following & 2 years later I was looking for a shop so I could teach painting skills & sell Chalk Paint® by Annie Sloan to the rest of my community. I met Darren the same week I viewed the premises,.....and 12 months later he quit his job & joined me in the shop full time. We love the idea of a 2nd shop but don’t want to be apart! 💗 We’re very much a family business & you will often see one of our 6 children either serving or painting in the shop. Before Covid-19 we ran 3 workshops a week. Two Art Therapy sessions & The Annie Sloan Essentials Workshop, an intensive course taking people from beginner to advanced level in furniture painting. We have luckily been able to continue serving our customers throughout the pandemic; offering deliveries, kerbside pickups & taking orders via our website. Our workshops resume next month. We feel very loved in the community, & prior to the pandemic, locals would donate their beloved pieces to us to see them transformed, which is always an honour... but this ramped up a gear during these difficult times, with everybody being so incredibly generous with their beautiful furniture items to help keep us going. We always pay it forward by selling these transformed pieces at sale price, so EVERYONE'S a winner! Our shop is very much about having fun! We play records & have a wide range of vintage & quirky items, the weirder the better! One of the things we love about Chalk Paint® is that it encourages sustainable living and when people leave our shop, their heads are full of inspirational ideas of how to help the environment by recycling or repurposing their items, using Chalk Paint® by Annie Sloan”. And here’s a beautiful piece of furniture to match. @Domantiqua_colourful_designs mixed Chalk Paint® in Aubusson Blue with bit of Florence for the ombre at the top of the piece. The bottom of unit was painted with Pure as a base layer and the pastel colours were created using Florence, English Yellow , Scandinavian Pink , Emperors Silk and Napoleonic Blue ( all mixed with Pure and Pearlescent Glaze). 👉🏻🌸🎉 If this fabulous piece is inspiring you to get your glad rags on then PLEASE DO SO!   • @greensprucedesigns painted this dresser in Chalk Paint® in Old White, added lowlights with Old Violet, then gave two coats of Pearlescent Glaze for shimmer. Pearlescent Glaze is made from pearlescent light reflecting particles suspended in a formula similar to Lacquer; meaning it protects your furniture as well as prettifying it! With two coats all over this piece, there was no need for Jen to Wax or Lacquer.

I had the honour of visiting this #StockistSunday location back in 2017 to teach a Stockist workshop there and it is a real inspiration hub of a store. @KathieJordanDesign is based in historic Downtown New Hamburg, Ontario, and is a grand European influenced interior décor studio. Kathie, the daughter of Dutch immigrants, opened the doors in March of 2011 offering “the works” - interior decorating services; custom drapery; workshops; custom upholstering; bespoke furniture painting, and Chalk Paint® by Annie Sloan! I think that’s all bases covered, there, Kathie! Prior to opening her store Kathie was a stained-glass artist for about 17 years, creating stunning one of a kind installations (scroll to the last photo to see some amazing custom light sconces she made). A hot air balloon accident meant this career was no longer viable, so Kathie, along with her husband John, son Mackenzie, and daughter Shelbie opened their store. They’re a family of artists and creators and have always been involved in DIY of some sort, even completely rehabbing a 1910’s house, an 1850’s apartment, and a 1919 cottage style house. "It was very exciting to add the paint line to the shop as it offered our customers options and the opportunity to decorate affordably for themselves or hire our talents and have us paint pieces for them” Kathie explains. These are TRUE artists with a passion for upcycling, sustainability, and restoration.   • This little cupboard perfectly demonstrates why when people ask me to choose just one favourite Chalk Paint® colour, I can’t do it! I love them all, especially together. Stockist @moebelei used Barcelona Orange, Aubusson Blue, Antibes Green, Emile , Old Violet and Scandinavian Pink and turned something boring and brown into a happy, colourful, little joy bringer! J'adore.
