Hello, sweet friends. Happy New Year!! I’m back in the studio after a fulfilling, sweet time with my family. I started the year with gratitude that my business and life is in a place where I could take two weeks off at the end of the year to just soak in everything we had been through in 2020. We spent a lot of time outside on trails, we made cookies, we Zoomed with friends and family, and we watched a lot of movies (the girls finally understand why Home Alone is the best Christmas movie). Yesterday, we celebrated our sweet 7-year-old’s birthday. It was our first day back to work, her first day back to school; it turned out to be a really lovely day (she got a skateboard and suddenly seems 13). I was grateful for this joy, as it was balanced by profound sadness: my beloved grandpa died from COVID. There aren’t really words to express the frustration, heartbreak, and anger I feel about this … right now, my heart is with my grandma who lost her life partner and doesn’t get the proper closure because of the times we’re living in. I thought I’d be ready to dive back into this space after my long break, but I need a little more time to acclimate and feel centered. Until then, please wear masks, limit in-person interactions, and find ways to experience new joys.

Maybe it’s a month of not drinking ahead of me (trying out how my body feels when I don’t drink alcohol), but I’ve been thinking about these wine labels all morning: the pinot leaf stylized with the winemaker’s fingerprint is one of my favorite details.

In a real 2020 move, we still haven't ordered our holiday cards, but we *did* pick a photo. So, here's a message from our family to yours: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This year was really hard (impossible at times), and we're so grateful for all the small joys we found along the way. Here's to 2021 being a year of growth, healing, and happiness. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ With love, ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The Stadick Family⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Thank you to @littlepuddletown for our family photos. (We're in a bubble with Sara's family - only seeing each other. This allowed us to safely trade family photo sessions this year. We did two quick sessions that were full of "if you smile, you'll get extra Halloween candy!!".)⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Have an amazing Holiday season. I'll see you in 2021. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ [Image Description: The Stadick family is photographed in a park. Fall leaves are all around the background. I'm heading into my winter hibernation: putting the phone down until January ... aside from a scheduled post that'll pop up tomorrow, this is it, baby! It was A YEAR. There is a lot to celebrate, and a lot to grieve. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Here’s the reality: Before covid, we were in a groove. My kids were in school, I had dedicated work time, we had a separation of life and work, we had space and alone time for self-care and growth, and having just come out of having a young baby, we were really excited for what 2020 had in store. Since March, we’ve been home full time. We’ve shifted into teachers, co-workers, and magicians who make 25 hours of work time result in what we used to do in 40. We stayed up late and woke up early. We cooked every meal at home. Our kids have gone through every emotional response to a really hard year (they haven’t seen their friends since March). They’ve grown, they’ve adapted, they’ve been absolute troopers. We’re trying too. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ And as far as the creative side goes: wow. I cannot believe I had to work during a pandemic. I carry a lot of resentment that we live in a place that decided $1,200 was enough and told us to go kick rocks. My workflow needs inspiration, creativity, and a heart that’s tuned in a way that allows me to make (good) things. It was really, really hard. I had to say no to a lot. A lot of people had to say no to my prices. My clients have been through hell. And somewhere in this, I found a new groove … I’m beyond grateful and proud of the work my clients and I produced this year. My studio time (and connecting with amazing business owners) was a light - a bit of respite from an otherwise hard year. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I’m so thankful for the people who have hired me, for the people who follow me here, and the community we’re in together. You’re doing a really great job, and I’ll be here to cheer you on in 2021. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ If you'd like to partner with me, let's do it!

As we sit in the shortest, darkest days of the year, I'm really leaning into ways to add more joy to my life (my light therapy lamp can only do so much). ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ During COVID, I've found my way back to quilting. It's a hobby that hits all the right spots for me: planning the design, choosing perfect colors, carefully assembling the pieces, and then there's the best part: sitting down each evening, hand-stitching the layers together. Each stitch takes focus (though, it's pretty mindless). The rhythm, the care, the texture ... it's just a dream. I love that I'm making heirlooms (with a craft that humans have been doing for generations and generations). ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ At the end of the summer, I completed these two small quilts for my daughters. One is the sunshine. One is the flowers. Both were made with a lot of love. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ [Image Description: Two quilts are folded and stacked on one another, sitting on a dark wood table. Quilt backs are a light blue and white seersucker material. Quilt bindings are a mix of vintage floral patterns.]

This week, I've been sharing peeks at upcoming launches, and I'm so, so excited for what the first weeks of 2021 look like over here. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Today, I'm working on a Creative Brief for a local food cart, just sent off this site preview, and I'll be getting things lined up before I'm off for my holiday break (aka, staying cozy at home - likely diffusing 936 fights between my children each day). If you're in the same boat: godspeed! Enjoy your weekend, friends. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ [Image Description: a white iPad sits on top of a linen book, both stacked on top of a wooden table. On the iPad is a mockup of a website. The mockup showcases images and sample text.]

Paper goods are for: enhancing the client experience, communicating, sending love, and rounding out your visual suite. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ In a world where so many things live online, I truly believe sending a note in the mail is one of the sweetest, most-memorable things a business owner can do. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The paper suite for @wildoakfilms is full of color, texture, and sweet messaging. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This post wraps my launch for Wild Oak Films. I hope you've loved getting a peek into this project. If you'd love to partner with me in 2021, let's chat! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ [Image Description: Cream-colored envelopes are spread out, overlapping each other. A shadow covers half of the image.
