What steps do you take when starting a new project? Here's my process even before opening Figma ➡️ 🛣 View the competitive landscape of other products. What industry are you designing for? Are there certain user expectations and patterns? How can you improve upon these? Recently I worked with a finance app and we thought to put stories in their community section, allowing for content on getting started with personal finances, how to use the app, etc. 📝 Sketch out ideas on paper or a whiteboard. I always try to avoid jumping right into Figma! Staying to paper or whiteboard at first allows for the design idea to develop and allows for a deeper dive of the problem, compared to going with an idea in Figma if it 'looks pretty'. 👩🎨 Put yourself into the problem as a user perspective. I open an incognito tab, download an app fresh onto my phone, trying to simulate what the current user experience I'm redesigning or improving upon. _ Photo by @tatianaariolaphoto #design #uiux #productdesign #productdesigner #techstartups ui #uidesigner #uidesign #userinterface #ux #uxdesigner #uxdesigntips #productdesigntips #userexperience #webdesign #webdesigner #webdesign #appdesign #digitaldesign #tech

💬 Have you created a UI library and component system before? How did you get started and grow the library? Comment below ⬇️ I started designing and working with a developer since last September to build the system at my current design job. It was my first time building one and setting standards! It allowed us to bridge the gap between the design and development teams, defining a single source of truth for UI components creating consistency in our product. If UI libraries and components systems are new to you, they grow upon the idea of atomic design and allow for modular building of user interfaces. They are a library of interface components that offer a wide range of building blocks available to designers and developers, some examples are inputs, buttons, toggles, etc. With each of these elements, they can come together to make a component and composition. #design #uiux #productdesign #productdesigner #techstartups #ui #uidesigner #uidesign #userinterface #ux #uxdesigner #uxdesigntips #productdesigntips #userexperience #webdesign #webdesigner #webdesign #appdesign #digitaldesign #tech #uitips #uxtips #designsystems #uicomponents #componentlibraries

Over the last week, I've started to document my design process to see where I can improve. My notes went something like this: initial call, understand the business problem, analyze the product, create user personas and userflows, where can the product be improved, initial wireframes and designs, user-testing (repeat if needed), final designs and handoff to developers. 💬 What does your design process look like? How are you looking to improve it? I'm looking to spend more time in the user phase allowing myself to dig a bit deeper with the business and problem I'm trying to solve. No process is ever linear and does vary per project. Although I think taking steps to improve over time and learn more can make a huge difference in the quality of work. Learn how to get started brainstorming your idea for an MVP (minimum viable product). An MVP is based on your current business objective, such as testing a new idea or feature, and crafting a bare minimum solution to test with users. Swipe to learn more ➡️ Usually, there is a core problem that you're trying to solve and through a low barrier to entry solution, you can validate it or test the initial direction. Some questions to ask are, what is the exact purpose of the MVP and what problem is being solved? For design, what are key user interface elements are needed? Remember to keep the viable part of the MVP, keeping the task for a user smaller in scale compared to testing a whole product. Try to focus on a key feature of a few steps to see how a user interacts, collect feedback, and change your direction based on the results. #businessofdesign #freelancedesign #freelancedesigner #personalbrand #personalbranding #marketing101 #brandmarketing #businessmarketing #instagramforbusiness #businesstip #creativebusiness #productdesign #uxdesign #uidesign #uiuxdesign #gooddesign #designbusiness #businessofdesign

2050 Capital was looking to expand their online presence and gain more clients from a modern, simple website with a call-to-action for users to book personal finance consultations online. Swipe to view ➡️ The website features a breakdown of their services, who the client will be working with and recent news on personal finance. Before the website was created from a template and Colin, the founder of 2050 Capital, was looking to create something custom with a designer. The website itself was limited with content and lacked a personality that didn't appeal to younger clients the company was looking to expand its services with. Upon our first call, we collaborated to discover the content that was needed, the architecture of the website and an initial visual style. #businessofdesign #freelancedesign #freelancedesigner #personalbrand #personalbranding #brandmarketing #businessmarketing #entrepreneursofinstagram #creativebusiness #productdesign #uxdesign #uidesign #uiuxdesign #gooddesign #designbusiness #financewebsite #financial #financialbrand #personalfinance
